The Strength of Summer

To me, summer is a season of strength. Bright blues and heavy greens, refreshing storms, and everything alive at its fullest. I wanted this collection to reflect the magnificent light and bold colors of the season.

The palette for this collection is a wider one than for Spring, with more varied greens and blues, but also yellows and browns. Payne's Grey is a staple across many of the pieces, with its rich darkness giving a beautiful depth that black can't quite capture. Each piece focuses heavily on texture and how these colors play together on a variety of landscapes. I worked largely with palette knives and used slow-drying acrylics, both of which afforded me a certain liberation in creating the balance and compositions I wanted.
